Bill Butt’s final Historical Play is coming!

Mighty Men of Zorra Auditions

Thistle Theatre is presenting another historical play this coming winter called the “Mighty Men of Zorra”. This play will detail the successful local tug of war team climaxing with the win at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. The play written by Bill Butt will also describe historical community events leading up to the win.

We need men and women of all ages to audition for this new play which also includes music of the time.

Auditions will be held on Sept 21 and Sept 24 starting at 7 pm at Knox United Embro. Information for the auditions can be found by texting Don Hilborn at 519 537 3756.  

Note About the Play and Casting
The Mighty Men of Zorra is a play that his about a group of actors at Thistle Theatre trying to create a play about the history of the township. It is a play within a play; the action of the play takes place during a rehearsal. The play leads towards the story of The Mighty Men of Zorra and their tug-o-war victory; however, there are a lot of other events dramatized along the way. We are looking for actors of all ages and genders. You don’t have to be a man to play one of the “Mighty Men”.

The play is a comedy which celebrates the long history of people pulling together and persevering as a community in Zorra. It also celebrates the long proud tradition of theatre making in this community.

At the audition you will be asked to read from the sides (scenes) provided. You should be prepared to read any of the characters in the sides. You DO NOT need to memorize any text for the audition.

At the audition you will also be taught a song which you will sing with other auditioners. This will be choral singing. You do not need consider yourself a confident singer to be part of this play. There are some roles which will involve more singing and other roles will not require singing very much.
